Advocacy (Weekly Radio program, Blog, Instagram, short videos, Facebook and Twitter hangouts platforms): This is a platform where we can reach out to millions of youths and engage them. There is a need to create positive mindsets and mind revolution in our youths that will fuel positive change and enhance societal development. We intend to network with content providers from within and outside the African continent. We presently use our weekly radio program, TV collaborations, YouTube channels, and other social media platforms. We’ve had between 67% to 79% feedbacks on all our various media advocacy programs.

Radio

‘Our World Rhealyz Naija’ is a weekly development program designed to raise awareness about issues affecting the society and how to collectively proffer solutions thereby enhancing societal development. It is another follow-up the opportunity to use the media to engage and educate the society about the issues we are addressing through our various projects. Young people including our Girls’ CAP participants are giving the platform to share their volunteering experiences to motivate others, engage in radio presentation, create contents, and act as street reporters. We also bring in experts in fields related to our topic of discussion.

Social media

Various social platforms are used to advocate for change by joining the international community to solve global problems locally.

Social Goals Hangout (Online)

This is an online discussion engagement on Twitter where global issues and challenges are discussed with a focus on finding sustainable solutions to the challenges we face. The chat engages passionate resource person(s) by using SDGs, pictures, storytelling, and data to address issues discussed. It’s expected to grow into a global movement geared towards the achievement of the SDGs in various communities worldwide (Thinking Global and acting locally). The use of the hatch tag #socialgoalshangout is used to drive the discussion. This project is in partnership with Food Gist Hub which is focussed on food and water stories.

Street impact

The advocacy program is usually done on an international or nationally recognized holiday, and it involves going to targeted areas to educate people on selected topics that affect society. Over the years, different street impact projects have been carried out to address social issues that affect the nation such as child abuse, child trafficking, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) environmental sustainability, education etc. We engage the populace on the street with the related messages and try to engage them in educative discussions.

International zero tolerance day for Female Genital Mutilation

It is a United Nation’s annual campaign day held on February 6 as part of its efforts to eradicate Female genital cutting (Female Genital Mutilation).

“No to FGM” is a Rhealyz Green Network initiative to contribute to the elimination of Female genital mutilation. As part of the activities, hashtags(#NotoFGM #Zerotolerance ) would be generated on our social media platforms to create global awareness. Interested corps members can participate in the campaign by creating profiles which include pictures, and Anti FGM quotes, sharing them, engaging in street interviews (vox pop) and uploading their views about it as feedbacks.

International youth day

Rhealyz Street Impact 3.0 was held on the 12th August, to commemorate the international youth day as recognized by the United Nations. The theme was for the annual celebration was “Safe Spaces for Youth.” In raising awareness about drug and substance abuse especially among the youth, Rhealyz Naija chose the sub-theme “safer drugs.” A team of 19 passionate volunteers alongside the Rhealyz Naija team took to the streets to preach the message of safer drugs to youth in Nigeria.

The messages of the street impact focused on encouraging youth to always check for expiry dates of drugs before taking them, to stay away from self-medication, hard drugs; the impending dangers, the tell-tale signs of drug addicts and the possible ways to help addicts out of the dark hole. In celebrating the international youth day, the JCI members joined Rhealyz Naija team in advocating for the safer use of drugs in the society especially among youth.
